I'm Romain Liot, the COO of Adore Me. One year ago, we launched a bit of a revolution within our company. On 9.19.19 we asked every member of the Adore Me team to start thinking about how they could reinvent what they do to make it more sustainable. We had already been quietly doing things like using recycled materials in some product lines, but this was a companywide call-to-arms.
MATERIALS
You likely have read or seen headlines about the fashion industry's impact on the environment. At Adore Me, we knew we had to start transforming every element of our business to be more sustainable. I'm incredibly proud of the work done by all of our teams. You may have seen (or even bought!) the recently sustainable sleep collection made from organic cotton. We launched a new swimwear line using digital printing, a much more environmentally-friendly way to produce swimsuits. We're launching more and more lines that incorporate sustainable materials.
PACKAGING
When you receive your order, you may have noticed our new recycled polybags. These are made of 100% recycled materials, and even better, because they are lighter, there is less of a carbon footprint overall. If you are still receiving boxes, these are made of 70% recycled materials, and we're switching over to FSC-certified 100% recycled material boxes very soon.
SUPPLY CHAIN
And these are just the things you, our wonderful customers, see. Behind the scenes is where we've been even harder at work. We've launched a new program to work with our manufacturers to ensure their own sustainable practices. Shipping goods on a plane is far worse for the environment, and we've been shifting nearly all of our shipping to boats (we had planned to be at 100% sea shipping by now, but the pandemic, unfortunately, made us have to adjust). To make an even bigger impact, we all need to work together and we are launching a number of exciting new partnerships, brands, and other efforts.
TED Countdown - on 10.10.20 TED is running a global event "to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis, turning ideas into action." We will be hosting our first TEDxAdore Me event that week on sustainability and encourage you to check out their event and get involved as well!
MAS Holdings x Adore Me - We are launching a partnership with one of the world's most innovative manufacturers to launch a number of femtech-related products (Coolibrium is our first effort!)
The Embrace Blog - we are launching a new blog where you can keep up with our sustainability efforts, learn about the history of the bra, meet members of our team, and read about all sorts of Adore Me initiatives!
